Children with special needs

A quieter start, with more room to be yourselves.

We can make the first appointment of the day a calm, lower-sensory visit with extra time built in.

A calm pediatric dental visit with a parent present

A quieter start

The first appointment of the day, kept quiet

We can dim the lights, bring out a weighted blanket and noise-cancelling headphones, and reserve a longer appointment slot so there is time to settle in.

What a quiet visit can include

  • Dimmed lights and a longer appointment slot.
  • A weighted blanket and noise-canceling headphones.
  • A parent chair right beside the dental chair.
  • Time to pause, look around, or try again another day.

Tell us what helps

Before you arrive, you are welcome to send a note about what helps your child feel settled and what does not. Your insight lets us prepare the room and the pace before your child walks in.

Care that can last

Patients with special needs can stay with our practice through age 21, or longer when the family and our team agree that it is working well.

No forced checkups

We never hold a child down for a checkup. When today is not the day, we stop and make a plan to try again.
